Best Protein Packed Snacks on the Go

Life can get busy

Whether you’re getting ready for work, or rushing to class on a Monday morning, sometimes we don’t have the time to make a whole meal. However, that doesn’t mean that reaching our daily protein goal should feel impossible.

Snacks can be convenient

The easy solution in a time crunch is to go for a quick snack. But were not just talking about a plain chocolate bar or bag of chips.  There are plenty of options that can offer better nutrients in the long run.

For Instance, snacks high in protein are often offered as they help to suppress your appetite and provide the protein essential for muscle growth and maintenance.

Our Selection

We took several factors into consideration for this listing:

Nutrient Content: While we mainly do focus on protein content, we always consider the other important elements of our diet. A well-balanced snack is packed full of nutrients that will help sustain your energy level, curb hunger and keep your stomach from grumbling.

Price: Part of what makes a snack, a “snack”,  is how easy it is to purchase without needing to worry about it taking a hit to your bank account.

Convenience: Most importantly, is the convenience of being able to find it at most stores at any given moment.

1. Protein Bars

Protein bars are an easy way of getting your daily protein needs and curbing your hunger.

There are tons of options available out there with many different flavors to choose from. However, be on the lookout for bars that are packed with unnecessary sugars or fillers.

Personally, as a chocolate lover, I always go for a good chocolate or peanut butter flavored bar. The nocow protein bar is one of my personal favorites with a whopping 20 grams of protein and an amazing taste

2. Greek Yogurt

What makes Greek Yogurt so great is how versatile it can be in the great scheme of things.

Greek Yogurt is great on its own but can also be customized with fresh fruit, nuts, and honey

On top of that, it makes a great addition to any smoothie by adding a creamy texture boasted with a good amount of protein.

Chobani is a great brand to go for and can be found at most grocery stores. The vanilla flavor is definitely a stand out.

3. Beef jerky

A meat lovers paradise!

Beef Jerky is the top pick for those craving a meat.

One bag of jerky is packed with strips of trimmed dried meats such as beef and teriyaki offering a great source of protein at easy convenience.

JackLinks is probably the most accessible brand of beef jerky available at nearly every grocery store with various flavors as well.

4. Overnight Oats

If you’re someone who loves to plan ahead, Overnight oats are a great option to consider.

Offering nutrients rich in content such as protein and fiber makes this a great staple in your diet.

Oats are a great option for those looking for a meal that will be easily digested, beneficial and filling.

You can use any old-fashioned oats to make this, however some pre-packaged oats often make it even more convenient for on the go!

5. Tuna Pouches

Tuna is perfect for those days where time is limited.

Tuna is rich in contents such as omega 3 essential fatty acids which support blood flow.

With little to no prep time necessary tuna can easily be turned into a salad or a quick sandwich.  I personally like to mix my tuna with canned vegetable mix as an easy spread for sandwich or crackers.

  • Be cautious of the mercury content found in tuna as high consumption can lead to health concerns.
  • We recommend this as an occasional snack rather than daily.

Recommendation:

Starkist Light Tuna

Bumble Bee Premium Light Tuna
